CO₂ Laser Tubes are the core components of laser engraving and cutting machines, and their performance and lifespan are significantly affected by low temperatures and dry air in winter. Proper maintenance is essential to ensure stable operation and avoid unnecessary downtime. Here are the key winter maintenance tips for CO₂ laser tubes.

🔹 Keep the Working Environment Temperature Stable
Low temperatures are the primary enemy of CO₂ laser tubes in winter. When the ambient temperature drops below 10°C, the gas inside the tube will contract, leading to reduced laser power and unstable discharge. In severe cases, it may even damage the tube’s electrode and glass envelope.
Install Temperature Control Equipment: Place the laser machine in a closed room and use heaters or air conditioners to maintain the ambient temperature between 15°C and 25°C. Avoid placing the machine near windows, doors, or other places where cold air can directly blow.
Preheat Before Operation: On cold winter mornings, do not start the laser machine immediately. Turn on the power supply of the machine first and let it idle for 10–15 minutes to preheat the laser tube and related components. This step can effectively prevent thermal shock caused by sudden temperature changes.

The CO₂ laser tube generates a lot of heat during operation, and a reliable cooling system is crucial to dissipate heat. In winter, the risk of water freezing in the cooling system increases sharply, which can block the pipeline and crack the laser tube.
Use Antifreeze Coolant: Replace the pure water in the cooling system with a professional antifreeze coolant suitable for CO₂ laser tubes. The coolant should have a freezing point below -20°C to ensure it does not freeze even in low-temperature environments. Remember to clean the water tank and pipeline thoroughly before adding new coolant.
